VW Bus Poster Release at the Crop 10 Year Anniversary in Austin, TX

Collaborating with Native Screen Print Co. on "Vanstock"

Recently, I had the opportunity to join forces with Orlando’s finest print shop, Native Screen Print Co., for their innovative “Vanstock” project. Lead by industry veterans Tim Styles and Harrison Lemire, Native Screen Print Co. brought together a collective of designers to craft unique interpretations of vintage vans, curating a limited edition series of hand-screened posters.

For the 63 Visual contribution, I knew it had to pay homage to the iconic 1963 Volkswagen Bus — after all, the namesake of 63 Visual is a 1963 Beetle. The primary poster, printed in striking white and gold ink on a matte black stock, captures the essence of a vintage vintage blueprint or owner’s manual. Additionally, Native unveiled Asphalt, Blue Print, and Foil variants, each adding its own distinct flair to the collection. It was amazing to witness these creations unveiled at the 10th Anniversary of @cropcons in Austin, TX, where creativity thrived and passions were ignited.

Native Screen Print Co. specializes in meticulously hand-printed paper goods, particularly show posters for some of the world’s most renowned musical acts. From Bad Religion and Dave Matthews Band to Sublime and Primus, their portfolio boasts an impressive array of legendary names. Their dedication to craftsmanship and artistic expression is evident in every piece they produce.

The “Vanstock” collaboration underscored the intersection of graphic design, screen printing, and artistic freedom. It’s not merely about posters – it’s a celebration of creativity and the revival of retro aesthetics. The attention to detail and the commitment to quality that Native Screen Print Co. show in the quality of their work, and every artist brought a unique and well-done concept to the table.

As a designer, being part of this project was more than just a creative endeavor – it was an opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals who share a passion for design and craftsmanship. It’s these collaborations that fuel innovation and inspire new artistic directions. The legacy of the vintage motorcraft lives on through these posters, each one a testament to the enduring allure of nostalgia and the boundless possibilities of creative expression.
